About booking

Do I need to book this tour in advance, how do I book?

The Stonehenge Explorer is very popular so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Simply follow the BOOK NOW process. Payment is safe and secure using a debit / credit card.

Can I purchase the tour without an entrance ticket?

Scarper Tours have been given a daily allocation of tickets with guaranteed priority entrance for our customers. However, if you already have an entrance ticket or if you are a member of English Heritage, then please let the driver know as soon as you meet in Bath. Applicable entrance fees can be refunded back to you on the day of the tour.

How do I cancel, change the time or make an amendment to my booking?

If you need to cancel or make any changes to your booking then please let us know by email at hello@scarpertours.com. Cancellations notified 24 hours or more before departure will receive a full refund. Cancellations notified less than 24 hours before departure are non-refundable. Changes to date or time can be made if notified 24 hours before, but are subject to availability.

Which ticket should I purchase?

All of our tickets include the Stonehenge entrance fee. A student is anyone who has a valid student card (from any country) on the day of travel. A senior is anyone over 65 years (no proof required). Child tickets are for ages 5 - 17 years. Please note the minimum age for this tour is 5 years.

About the tour

Where and when do I meet the bus?

The purple bus will be waiting in the centre of Bath at Terrace Walk, next to the Abbey Hotel. This is close to most city hotels and only a 5-minute walk from the train and bus stations. Please ensure that you arrive at the pick-up point 10 minutes before the departure time. We have an allocated arrival time at Stonehenge and other passengers to consider so it is essential that we leave on time.

Tell me more about the journey

The ride to Stonehenge is about 60km and takes just under one hour each way. We use luxury mini-coaches with large panoramic windows, air-conditioning and comfortable seats to ensure your journey is relaxing and enjoyable. Along the way, the driver/guide will point out sights of interest including Celtic Hill Forts, Thatched Cottages and (on a clear day) the famous Westbury White Horse Chalk Carving.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring your booking confirmation details, and your Student cards if applicable. British weather can be unpredictable so please come prepared. Stonehenge is normally a little cooler than the city so an extra layer of clothing is always a good idea. Our buses do have a rear compartment for storage but space is limited, so please bring only day packs / small luggage if possible. Audio guides are available to download to your smart phone in advance at the App Store and Google Play.

Tell me more about my time at Stonehenge

You will be at Stonehenge for a minimum of 2 hours. This is plenty of time to see Stonehenge properly and to enjoy the Exhibition Hall, Souvenir Shop and Cafe at the Visitor Centre. The driver/guide will sort your tickets and explain the layout of the site upon arrival before leaving you to enjoy Stonehenge at your own pace and leisure.
