Your FAQs

All of your questions answered here.

  • Why should I see Stonehenge with Scarper Tours from Bath?

The City Of Bath is a perfect gateway for a visit to Stonehenge; this beautiful Georgian city with its small centre and gorgeous surroundings offers a quick and easy escape into lovely countryside. Scarper Tours make this short journey to Stonehenge as memorable as the site itself, with lots to see along the way and interesting commentary from your driver/guide.
Our tour is the only direct route to Stonehenge from Bath which makes it perfect for those on a day trip with time at a premium and for those staying in Bath for a few days who want a short escape from the city.

  • Do I need to book this tour in advance? How do I book?

Yes. Our Stonehenge Tour is very popular so we strongly recommend that you make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment.
The easiest way is through our on-line booking system. Simply follow the BOOK TOUR instructions. Payment is safe and secure and can be made using a credit or debit card.
Alternatively, you can book through the Bath Tourist Information Centre once you arrive in the city, if seats are still available.

  • Which ticket option should I choose?

Most people will require the 'Tour and Stonehenge Entrance' option, which will provide return transport and a Stonehenge entry ticket (at a discounted price).
The 'Tour Only' option is only for members of English Heritage or National Trust England who can enter free, or for those with pre-paid Stonehenge entry tickets.
A student is anyone who can show a valid Student ID card on the day of travel. This does not need to be a UK student card, but can be from any country.
A Senior is anyone aged 60 years or over. No proof is necessary.

  • Can I see Stonehenge without an entrance ticket?

No, you cannot see Stonehenge without an entrance ticket. Stonehenge has a new visitor centre which is located 1.5 miles from the stones. Only visitors with a valid ticket for their specific day can visit the monument.
Scarper Tours has been given a daily allocation of tickets with guaranteed entrance for our customers. Not only this, but our customers will also save money by purchasing the combined 'Tour and Entrance' ticket, when compared to the regular Stonehenge admission price.

  • Where and when do I meet the bus?

The tour departs from the bus stop on Terrace Walk, next to the Abbey Hotel and Huntsman Pub, in the very centre of Bath. This is very close to most city hotels and only a 5 minute walk from the train and bus stations. Please view the meeting point map above.
We are unable to collect from individual hotels but Bath is a small city and our pick up/drop off point is close to local bus stops and the main city taxi rank.
Please ensure that you arrive at the pick-up point 10 minutes before the departure time. We have an allocated arrival time at Stonehenge so it is very important for us to leave on time.

  • Why can I not select the day/time that I want on the online calendar?

Once you have entered the number of persons travelling, the system will automatically let you select any day/time that has suitable availability. If you cannot choose your desired day/time, then it is because there are not enough seats left on that tour.

  • Why does my online booking keep failing?

Please ensure that all sections of the booking form are completed and that you have ticked the Terms and Conditions box. The Voucher Code section should be left blank as this is only for use by local booking agencies.
If your booking does not succeed, then it is most likely a problem with the payment card (insufficient funds or expired), or an issue with the device that you are using (browser compatibility or slow connection). If possible, please try an alternative card and/or device as this will usually solve the issue.
All bookings do need to be pre-paid through our website to register on our system. Once your booking is successful, you will receive a payment email and also a confirmation email showing your tour details. If you do not receive a payment receipt, then you can be sure that no monies have been taken.
Alternatively, you can pay by cash or card at the Tourist Information Centre in Bath once you arrive in the city, if seats are still available.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring your booking confirmation details and Student / Membership cards (if applicable) with you on the day. Booking confirmation can be printed if you wish or displayed on your mobile device.
English weather can be unpredictable so please come prepared. Stonehenge is normally a little cooler than the city, so an extra layer of clothing can be a good idea, especially in the winter.
    Don't forget your camera!

  • Can I bring my luggage with me?

Our buses do have a rear compartment for storage, but space is limited. We will always do our best to accommodate your luggage for the duration of the tour if needed.
However, if you have a few large cases it would be best if you could leave them at your hotel or at a luggage storage facility. There is a left luggage facility at the internet cafe just opposite the train station and also at the Bath Backpackers hostel close to the meeting point.

  • How long will I be at Stonehenge? When will I get back to Bath?

We will be at Stonehenge for 2 hours which is plenty of time to explore the monument and to enjoy the Visitor Centre attractions. The journey time is one hour each way making the total tour duration time approx. 4 hours.
Please understand that we are subject to local traffic conditions and the punctuality of our customers, but we are generally back in Bath within 5-10 minutes of our scheduled time.

    9.30am tour - returns 1.30pm.
    2pm tour - returns 6pm.
    1pm tour - returns 5pm.

  • Is this tour suitable for everyone? What language will the commentary be in?

The tour is suitable for people of all ages and nationalities, whether travelling independently or with friends.
However, due to insurance regulations concerning child seats, our minimum age for this tour is 3 years.
Sightseeing at Stonehenge does require some walking, but is generally suitable for the elderly and less mobile.
Please note that our vehicles do not have wheelchair access and we are not permitted to carry dogs.
Commentary from the driver will be in English. Audio guides at Stonehenge are available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Polish, Japanese and Chinese.

  • How do I cancel or change the time of my tour?

If you need to cancel or change your tour time please let us know by email at Cancellations notified 48 hours or more before departure will receive a full refund (minus a £5 administration fee). Cancellations notified less than 48 hours before departure are non-refundable.
If you wish to change the tour date or time, please notify us by email as soon as possible . Changes can be made at no extra charge but are subject to availability.

  • Where is my confirmation e-mail? Has my booking been successful?

When you have completed the booking process you will be sent a receipt email for your payment and a confirmation email from Scarper Tours with your booking details. This will be sent to the email address that was entered on the booking form. If you cannot find this email, please check the junk/spam box as they can sometimes be automatically sorted to this folder. Please note that confirmation emails can sometimes be a little delayed.

  • Do you send tickets through the post? When do I get my tickets?

We do not send anything out to you. We collect your Stonehenge Entrance Tickets from the site on the day of the tour.
All we need on the day is your booking name and your confirmation email, in case there is any query with your booking (this can be printed or shown on a mobile device).

  • What should I do if I miss the bus?

Please understand that we will never leave early if passengers are absent, but we must depart promptly to ensure we make our appointed arrival slot at Stonehenge.
With this in mind, please ensure that you are aware of our meeting point in advance and allow plenty of time to make your journey.
We do not offer refunds or time changes if you miss the bus.

  • I have left something on the bus. Can you help?

If you have left something on the bus, then please email Once we can confirm that the lost property has been found then we will do our best to return it.
Alternatively and if possible, it is worth meeting the bus as it departs for the next tour and asking the driver. There is a high chance that the lost item will be onboard.

  • Do you ever cancel tours?

We never cancel tours due to low passenger numbers or wet weather.
In the very unlikely event that we did need to cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances, then a full refund will be issued.

  • Do you offer tours to places other than Stonehenge?

No. We are a small company who specialise in Stonehenge tours only. A quick internet search will provide you with other tour options from Bath if you wish to see more sights.

  • Can I travel to Salisbury from Stonehenge? Do you offer a one-way price?

The City of Salisbury is located about 10 miles south of Stonehenge. We do not visit Salisbury on the tour, but you can get there by bus or taxi from Stonehenge. Our driver can assist you with information on the day if this is an option you wish to consider.
Please understand that we are unable to offer a one-way fare, so the price will be the same whether you return to Bath with us or not.

  • Can I collect a Proof of Travel card before I take the tour?

The 'Proof of Travel' cards give our customers a 10% discount for the Roman Baths and the Open Top buses. The cards are kept on our buses and normally collected as you depart the tour.
As we do not have an office in Bath, the only way to collect them before you take our tour is if you are able to meet the bus at our pick up point as it departs on an earlier tour (our tours depart daily at 9.30am and 2pm in high season and 1pm during the winter). Our driver will happily give you a card in advance if you let him know that you are travelling at a later time.

  • Do you offer group tours or group discounts?

We offer a 10% discount on groups of 11 people or more. This discount is automatically deducted from the total price on our payment system.
If you would like to organise a private group tour to Stonehenge please contact to discuss availability and pricing.
Please note, we operate 24 seater vehicles so we are not best suited to offer private tours for individuals or small groups.

  • How do I contact you? Do you have an office in Bath?

Please email for any further information or if you have a query and we will reply as soon as we can.
We do not have an office in Bath, but you can book a tour at the Bath Tourist Information Centre if you are experiencing any difficulties making a reservation online.
